The story of Interrail starts with Jim Kelley. James “Jim” Frank Kelley, born June of 1949 in Madison, TN, graduated from Madison Academy High school and attended the University of Tennessee. Since early on in his childhood, he was always fascinated with science, technology, trains, and flying.
His career in railroading began at CSXT as a signalman and ended when he retired after 18 years while holding the title of Signal Supervisor. Due to his love for the railroad industry, him and his wife, Chryol, founded Interrail in 1997. As a team, they worked on building the company and acquiring the talent needed to make it grow. One of these talented individuals was Mike Hutson, who was one of Jim's best friends and left CSXT after 20 years of service to join Interrail in 1998.
Eventually, Interrail grew to encompass three companies, Interrail Engineering Inc, Interrail Signal Inc and Interrail Power Inc. The combination of these three companies set the foundation for providing customers "Turn-Key" service for signaling projects.
Today, with over 150 employees, Interrail Inc prides itself in being a leader in the Signal Design and Construction Industry. As a family owned business, Jim and Chryol established an environment of inclusion, constant employee development and a culture of excellence. Although we don't have Jim with us anymore, his legacy lives on Interrail.
